According to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, Gearbox is planning to reveal its first proper next-gen title later this year.
Pitchford explained on Twitter that it's looking like a reveal will happen this year, though he stopped short of saying what the project was and what consoles it could come to.
We heard in February that Borderlands 3 wasn't in development at the studio, and this seems to have been re-confirmed by Pitchford in subsequent Tweets, so odds are that it's new IP altogether and fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear any news about Borderlands 3.
