Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem is a franchise of Turn-Based Strategy RPGs. Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Tsurugi, the first game of the franchise, was released exclusively in Japan for the Famicom in 1990. Since then, the franchise has released games on the Famicon, Super Famicom, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. The first six Fire Emblem games were released exclusivley in Japan, while the seventh through the eleventh were localized worldwide. The twelfth saw no English release, but the franchise has recently regained a North American presence with Fire Emblem: Awakening. -

Donkey Kong Country
The Donkey Kong Country franchise is a series of side-scrolling platformers that total five games and all published by Nintendo. The first three games were developed by Rare for the Super Nintendo, and were later ported to the Game Boy Advance, with some changes and even exclusive content. -

Super Mario Bros.
The most iconic franchise of the gaming medium, Super Mario Bros. began in 1985 with the release of the game with the same title which was bundled with the NES upon purchase. Consisting solely of platforming titles, the franchise has a commonly occuring plot revolving around the kidnapping of Princess Peach by Bowser or his minions, requiring Mario, the primary protagonist, to come to her rescue. The style of gameplay is also consistent throughout the entirety of the franchise. -

Left 4 Dead
The Left 4 Dead series consists of two main entries and several pieces of DLC. Players take on the role of one of four survivors and must work together with the other three to progress through levels packed with zombies to safety points. -

Sly Cooper
The Sly Cooper franchise is a series of platformers that were developed for Sony's platforms, with the first three being released on the Playstation 2 and the fourth one on the Playstation 3 and the PS Vita. They weren't pure platformers, as all of the games included stealth gameplay elements in them. -

The Prototype series of games are open world action-adventure games that were developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision. Prototype was released in North America on June 9, 2009 and in Europe on June 12, 2009 for Playstation 3, XBox 360 and PC. Prototype 2 was released in North America on April 24, 2012 for the Playstation 3 and XBox 360, and on July 24, 2012 for PC. -

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
Look out, here comes that little orange rat again! Whenever the Outback is in danger Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is the thylacine to call! Ty the Tasmanian Tiger was an original franchise developed by Krome Studios, what was once the largest video game development studio in Australia, and published by EA (for 1 & 2) and Activision (for 3). All three console games were 3D platformers, the last two games being open world as well. Franchise staples include a large selection of different boomerangs, giant robot suits, over-the-top Australian accents, and vehicles. The franchise is jam packed with Australian culture and folk lore. The final two games recieved GBA ports and they were 2D platformers. The creator of the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger franchise is Steve Stamatiadis, also known for his web-comic series, Blade Kitten. -
