Originally debuting in Kirby's Dreamland on the Nintendo Gameboy, Kirby was first depicted as black and white due to the Gameboy's graphical limitations. Kirby was created by Masahiro Sakurai when he worked at HAL Laboratory. However, he Sakurai has not worked on a Kirby game since 2003 when he left HAL Laboratory and went on to begin his own company, Sora Ltd., where he dedicated his work primarily to the Super Smash Bros. series and most recently Kid Icarus Uprising.
