A sword is a weapon used to fight off hostile mobs in close range, it can be used to kill other mobs as well but is considered wasteful. Sword like other tools can be made of different material which determine how damage it does to the enemy and how durable it is. To create a sword you need to use a crafting table it requires a stick in the bottom center and two diamonds, iron ingots, gold ingots, cobblestones or wooden planks above the stick.
