Tales of Phantasia story begins with a group of heroes being involved in a great battle with the evil sorcerer, Dhaos. This fight changed the world, but the great evil Dhaos escaped through time. Though this did not last long, as four warriors were waiting for him on the other end, Dhaos was sealed away and thus peace was restored to the world
Ten years later, our protagonists Cress Albaine and Chester Burklight are devastated when their hometown is massacred. Both vow for revenge and set out on a journey to figure out why their town was destroyed and settle the score. On the course of their journey, the two meet a host of now comrades, travel through time, and meet the sorcerer Dhaos face to face.
