Bowser has once again kidnapped Princess Peach, and it is up to Mario to save her. But that is not the only objective in this game. Throughout all the stages there is an enormous amount of gold coins that come out of pretty much anything in the stages. Mario's second main objective in this game is to collect as many of these coins as he possibly can, with the ultimate goal being to collect one million coins.

For you to be able to play as Luigi in the game's single player mode, you must first finish the game by beating Bowser in World 6. When you have done that, go on the file select screen, then hold down the L and R buttons while selecting a file with the A button. Now you can play as Luigi.
