*some minor spoilers here, though nothing plot related*
I absolutely love the first BioShock - it's probably my second favourite game of this generation - but Infinite... well, it's dull. Almost everything is worse compared to BioShock, from the inferior 'Gear' system, to the lack of intense boss battles (the patriot, handyman, etc. don't come close to approaching the level of intimdation and personality that was the hallmark of the Big Daddies), the less compelling central characters and speeches, and perhaps most missed of all is the Little Sister/Big Daddy relationship. I don't think they should have included this, because it was an idea that had been played out already, but at the same time they haven't replaced it with anything either; there's a gaping hole there.
As for combat, I feel like I'm playing a limited corridor shooter. I use Vigors much less often than I used Plasmids, find that they're not as effective, interesting or varied, find the enemies to be too repetitive, and I'm getting increasingly annoyed at the 'waves' of spawning grunts. There's no spontaneity there, it's just 'enter room, kill new wave of grunts, move to next room'. I swear I don't remember BioShock being this repetitive.
The new setting is fantastic - it was set to make Infinite a more worthy sequel to the original BioShock and it's a genuinely fresh and interesting world. But... but, but, but, the game just doesn't deliver on the promise of the setting.
I'm surprised it's getting so much praise, and as a BioShock fan I'm kind of disgusted it's being rated almost as highly as its infinitely superior predecessor on meta sites.
I'm approaching the end now, and to be honest I'll be glad when it's all over.

Eva MartinMeh, didn't really like it either. They just wanted everything for this game: time travel, art, music, futurism, communism, religion, history, story, shooter, rpg, scenery, ... but then didn't deliver or excel at any of them. The storytelling was outrageously bad and then just threw everything at you right at the end. Regretfully only mediocre imho. -
Daniel HarkinWhat difficulty do you play on? -
Ángel Pérez EsquivelProbably you're not liking it because you haven't finished, but be sure that when you hit the finale, you're gonna love this masterpiece
