Before You Begin
- Accept from the start that you will never be any good at Flappy Bird. The game doesn't work very well and no matter how hard you try you will never be able to master it!
- Relax. It is not worth getting frustrated. Clear your mind and don't try too hard - the more you try the more you will fail.
- Make sure the screen is as sensitive as possible by removing and cases or screen covers.
- Quick fingers, light taps and fast movements are key to doing well. Try to anticipate the flight in advance and learn not to tap too hard.
- Use the biggest screen you can - a tablet will always work better than a phone.
- Read point 1 and find a better game to play that you actually stand a chance of winning.
Tips & Strategies
Sometimes the game starts to crash everytime the player loses a stage. The solution is to manually close the game and restart it. If done correctly, the game should stop crashing and begin to save the scores again.
Learn to Aim
Learning to aim the bird is all about practice, but what makes it easier is that the bird jumps the same amount every time the players touch the screen, regardless of the fact whether it's falling fast or not. Keep practicing and learn the amount the bird jumps with every touch so as to have a better aim.
Take a Break
It's no new news to anyone who played this game that it can annoying. The annoyance will frustrate you and break your concentration, thus affecting your overall score. If you notice that your scores are dropping and your frustration is growing, then it is probably time to take a break.
Big drops refers to the drop from a high space between pipes to a low space between pipes and is the biggest obstacle for players. The key is to time your jump through the pipe so that you don't have to jump a second time to avoid falling into the bottom-pipe. If you do a second jump, then you probably won’t be able to fall fast enough to avoid the next top-pipe.
Find a Rhythm
Think of a song in your head or just play a song, and bounce the bird to the rhythm of the song. This trick might help you to focus and bounce your bird straight without thinking or worrying too much about whether the bounce will be successfull or not.
Play on Android
According to the creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, the game currently is easier to play and get higher score on Android devices rather than iOS devices. This might not be true once an update is released in the future.
Play on a Tablet
Bigger screens allows players to have a better concentration at the game and have a better sense of distance between pipes. It also keeps them from getting distracted looking at the score again and again. Thus, devices with screen size of 7" is recommended to use instead of mobile phones with 4" display. Iphone 5/5c/5s are the worst choice to play the game on, while iPad is the best.
Compete with Friends
Just playing by yourself and beating your own score again and again is not much motivation, but playing with your friends lead to a bigger desire to get the top score, thus increasing the chances of higher scores.
Drop Down More
It is easier to control the bird to go higher than to control it to go lower, since once the screen in tapped the bird will bounce up the same amount it does and cannot be stopped in the middle. On the other hand, while going down the screen can be tapped and the bird will bounce and hence controlled before it falls down too much.
If all fails the only thing left to do is to either play a different game or hack flappy bird to get a higher score in it. Various different hacks for flappy bird can be found in the Hacks section.
