Daryl Dixon is a fictional character from the American television series The Walking Dead and will appear in the first video game based on the series, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Unlike many of the other characters on the show, Daryl is an original character and has not comic book counterpart.
In their childhood, Daryl and his older brother Merle lived in North Georgia with alcoholic parents. When Daryl was still little, his mother fell unconsious while smoking and burned alive in their home. From that point on Merle raised Daryl to share his beliefs and be tough, but frequent trips to juvenile institutions left Daryl alone for long periods of his life. This led to Daryl having to fend for himself, making him a strong survivor when the apocalypse rolled around.
