Oracle (Dota 2) - Oracle Skills

This page details each of Oracle's abilities/skills.

First Ability

Fortune's End [Keybind: Q]
AbilityAffectsDamage
Target Unit/Channeled Enemies Magical
Channels Oracle's power into a bolt of scouring energy for up to 2.5 seconds. When released the bolt strikes the targeted enemy, dealing damage and purging in an area around them. The purge duration is equal to the time spent channeling.
  • Cast Range: 650
  • Effect Radius: 215
  • Max Channel Time: 2.5
  • Damage: 75/150/225/300
  • Min Purge Duration: 0.5
  • Max Purge Duration: 2.5
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds
  • Mana Cost: 130
  • Is blocked by Spell Immunity. Spell immunity does not prevent it from affecting it the area though.
  • Linken's Sphere prevents the spell from being channeled, but the bolt is still released towards the previous target of Fortune's End, fully affecting units in the area. This bolt also uses the max stop duration, despite not being channeled.
  • Can be purged.
  • The projectile travels at a speed of 1200 and can be disjointed.
  • The targeting reticule must be centered over an enemy unit.
  • When disjointed, it still affects all units inside its area. This means in order to fully avoid it with invisibility one must also walk out of the area before it hits.
  • Cannot be cast on, but the purge can dispel buffs on invulnerable units.
  • The channeling is not canceled when the target turns spell immune, invisible, invulnerable or hidden.
  • When the channeling is interrupted by disables, the bolt is still released.
  • The purge happens before the damage, so it is not avoidable with Repel or Eul's Scepter of Divinity at all.
  • The stop sets the affected units' movement speed to 0. Affected units are still able to blink during it.
  • The stop from Fortune's End has priority over hastes, meaning hastes can't increase a unit's movement speedduring it.
    • This means it directly influences effects based on movement speed (e.g. Greater Bash).
    • Only the stop duration equals the time spent channeling Fortune's End. The purge and damage are fixed and apply once upon projectile hit.
      • If this is true then the content within the skill (to the left) needs to be updated and the "static" purge duration needs to be identified.
      • The stop duration starts at 0.5 at 0 seconds channel time, and increases by 0.08 seconds per 0.1 second channeled, resulting in 2.5 seconds duration when fully channeled.
      • Can be cast on, but does not affect ancient creeps, Roshan, Warlock's Golem and Storm and Fire from Primal Split.
      • Always purges off Repel, even on the named units it doesn't generally affect.
      • Applies a visual effect on the targeted unit upon cast, indicating that it is directly targeted. This visual effect is visible to everyone.
      • The sound during the channeling is audible to everyone as well.

Second Ability

Fate's Edict [Keybind: W]
AbilityAffects
Target Unit Heroes
Oracle enraptures the target, rendering them unable to attack, granting them 100% magic resistance (but not spell immunity), and increasing the damage they take from other damage types. Can be cast on both allies and enemies.
  • Cast Range: 700
  • Damage Amplification: 50%
  • Duration: 3/4/5/6
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds
  • Mana Cost: 50
  • Is blocked by Spell Immunity.
  • Is blocked by Linken's Sphere.
  • Cannot be purged except by Fortune's End.
  • Does not directly amplify the damage. It deals 50% of the damage as a separate pure damage instance.
  • Fate's Edict in combination with Ghost Scepter, Ethereal Blade or Decrepify can grant a hero 100% magic resistance and 100% resistance against physical damage, so only pure damage is able to harm them.
  • Sets the affected unit's magic resistance to 100%. It can not be reduced for its duration.
  • Since Fortune's End applies its purge before its damage, Fate's Edict can never prevent its damage.

Third Ability

Purifying Flames [Keybind: E]
AbilityAffectsDamage
Target Unit Heroes Magical
Burns away impurities from the target, dealing heavy damage and causing them to regenerate life each second over the duration. Can be cast on both allies and enemies.
  • Cast Range: 750
  • Damage: 90/180/270/360
  • Heal per Second: 11/22/33/44
  • Duration: 9
  • Cooldown: 3 seconds
  • Mana Cost: 55/70/85/100
  • Is blocked by Spell Immunity.
  • Fortune's End can remove the healing effect of it, turning it into a strong instant nuke with no heal for enemies.
  • Is blocked by Linken's Sphere.
  • The damage is applied instantly upon cast, followed by the heal over time. The damage is never lethal when casted on allies.
  • Can heal up to 99/198/297/396 health.
  • Considering most heroes' 25% basic magic resistance, it can effectively heal for 31.5/63/93.5/126 health, assuming they have no other sources of magic resistance.
  • Considering Meepo's 35% or Visage's 10% basic magic resistance, it can effectively heal them for 40.5/81/121.5/162 or 18/36/54/72 health.
  • The initial damage from Purifying Flames is fully blocked by the 100% magic resistance from Fate's Edict, turning it into a strong heal which deals no damage to allies.

Ultimate Ability

False Promise [Keybind: R]
AbilityAffects
Target Unit Allied units
Temporarily alters the target ally's destiny, delaying all damage, healing and regeneration effects on them until False Promise ends. Ally is granted invisibility while attacking and moving. Removes all negative status effects when applied.
  • Cast Range: 1000
  • Fade Time: 0
  • Duration: 7/8/9
  • Cooldown: 20 seconds
  • Mana Cost: 200
  • Is not blocked by Spell Immunity.
  • Is not blocked by Linken's Sphere.
  • Cannot be purged.
  • Applies a strong dispel on the target upon cast.
  • The delayed healing is doubled when it is provided at the end of the duration.
  • All damage and healing happen immediately once the buff ends. This damage is lethal and is credited to the original damage sources.
  • Casting abilities or attacking will not break the invisibility.
  • Purifying Flames, Fate's Edict and False Promise together on one ally effectively makes it heal for 198/396/594/792 health once the ultimate expires, since any damage is blocked by the 100% magic resistance and any heal doubled by the ultimate.
  • Applies a strong dispel and invisibility on the target upon cast.
  • The invisibility can not be broken by any orders, but True Sight can reveal the unit. Does not phase the unit.
  • All damage and healing happen immediately once the buff ends. This damage is lethal and is credited to the original damage sources.
  • Applies all the heal doubled in one instance, before any of the damage is applied at the end. The damage is applied in the order as it was received in single instances.
  • The damage is calculated after damage reductions as the damage instances was applied, not at the end of the duration.
  • Considers every damage type, except for health cost of spells like Armlet of Mordiggian or Icarus Dive.
  • All the blocked damage instances, and the delayed damage at its end (which is actually health manipulation) do not trigger the on-damage effects of the following spells:
    • Aphotic Shield, Backtrack, Blade Mail, Bristleback (reduces damage, but no passive quills), Cold Snap, Heart of Tarrasque, Kraken Shell, Living Armor, Mjollnir, Open Wounds, Orchid Malevolence and Soul Assumption,
    • If the target is invulnerable as False Promise expires, the delayed heal and damage wait for it to become vulnerable again.
    • The visual orb above the target's head gains more particles based on the received damage and heal.
      • Damage adds a fiery particle effect to it, and causes the bubble around the False Promise target to crack. These effects intensify the more damage ist taken.
      • Heals add green particles effects to it, which float around it. The more heals are received during False Promise, the more green particles appear.
      • These visual effects are visible to enemies only when the unit under False Promise is effected by True Sight.
      • Sound effect at the end of False Promise's duration depends on whether Play healing received or Play damage taken is a larger value.
      • Only one part of the Play sound is audible to the targeted hero only.
