Scarecrow is a villian from the DC Comics universe, co-created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. His first appearance was in the World's Finest Comics #3, which came out in 1941. Scarecrow is the alter ego of Dr. Jonathan Crane, who was inspired by The Legend of Sleepy Hollow's Ichabod Crane. A psychiatrist who worked as a teacher at Gotham University, he was fired after an incident with a gun in class. As a villian, Scarecrow uses drugs and psychological means to feed on the fears and phobias of his victims.
Scarecrow has appeared in almost every form of media, as well as many video games based on the DC Universe. These include the Batman: Arkham series, LEGO Batman: The Videogame, Batman: The Animated Series, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame, and numerous other titles.
