Victor von Gerdenheim was first introduced in Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors. He is based off of Frankenstein's monster from the classic horror movie, Frankenstein, which was based off of Merry Shelly's 1823 novel of the same name.
In game he is awaken to find his creator, Professor von Gerdenheim, long dead. Emily, who is an early creation of the Professor, is awoken only to have her eventually stop functioning.
Victor believed that if he went to Jedah's dimension, Majigen, he could collect enough souls to make Emily function once more. In the end he could only give up his own life to bring Emily back.
Victor has made several cameos outside of the series including Pocket Fighters and Capcom Fighting Evolution. He was featured in Udon's Darkstalkers series where he teams up with Donovan Baine to rescue Anita and Emily.
