Hitman is a series of stealth-oriented third-person shooters developed by Io Interactive and published first by Eidos Interactive and then Square Enix when it acquired the latter.
It revolves around Agent 47, the player character, who is a professional assassin created by a highly secretive cloning procedure. He works for the International Contract Agency, more commonly known simply as "The Agency". His missions often involve infiltrating a location as discreetly as possible and silently taking out a target, though he is well equipped to deal with multiple armed hostiles.
