While playing press tilde to bring down the console then type any of the following cheat codes
Note Make sure to capitalize family member names settlement names and anything else that needs capitalizing or else it will not work

Unlock All Factions
This cheat involves editing a game file ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING
Open the game folderDataworldmapscampaignimperialcampaigndescrstrattxt file with Notepad You will see a list of the nations you can use in the beginning the unlockable ones and the nonplayables Cut and paste the unlockable factions to the playable nations Save the file Now go back to the game and complete a campaign mode and all of the factions will be unlocked Do not copy the end nonplayables

Find your way to the Medieval II Total Wardataworldmapscampaignimperialcampaign directory and youll see a file called descrstrat Cut and Paste the unlockable section into the playable section Now just save and close and youll have all your factions unlocked
