Once you reach the main menu, you have a number of options. The first option is 'Practise' where you can practise the 201 articles in this game. The second is 'Test', where you can test yourself on those articles. The third is 'Options', where you can change the background music, sound effects and one other thing.
Pressing 'B' during any menu, except articles, will immediately take you back to the main menu.
Practise Menu
If you select 'Practise', you're given four parts to choose from. Once you choose one, you'll be given a list of articles. Choose one of these articles to enter it and practise. Simply scroll up and down through an article using the 'Up' and 'Down' buttons. You'll see a number of blank spaces with underscores, these are your missing words. Whenever a question mark in a bubble appears in these spaces, you're meant to guess that word. When you want that word revealed, press the 'A' button and it will appear. You can continue scrolling through the article, revealing these key words at your leisure. Practise them so that you can test yourself later on.
If you want to exit back to the main menu at any time from an article, simply press 'B' and select the 'Yes' option. You'll wind up back at the article select screen. Simply press 'B' once more and you'll be back at the main menu. That's really all there is to it.
The articles are into the four sub-menus as follows:
| 1 | 1 | 88 |
| 2 | 89 | 121 |
| 3 | 122 | 152 |
| 4 | 153 | 201 |
Test Menu
The 'Test' menu is exactly the same as the Practise menu. Navigate it in the same way.
The key words under the 'Test' menu are the same. The difference is that you're having you results recorded for the article that you select. Whenever you reveal a word after guessing it, you're asked whether you got it correct or incorrect (an 'X' in the top right corner means incorrect, a 'O' means correct). To toggle between correct and incorrect, use the 'Left' and 'Right' buttons. Once you've marked it, press 'A' and you'll enter your result into the game. You can then continue on and reveal the rest of the words.
When you're done testing yourself, press 'B' and select the 'Yes' option to exit from the article. Your score will be displayed out of the total possible score that you could have gotten. The minutes and seconds you took will be displayed along the bottom part of the screen. If you didn't attempt some key words, they will simply count as an incorrect attempt.
Options
You have three options here. The first is the Background Music (BGM). You can either have it off, or choose one of the four tracks. The second option is sound effects. Turning it on will mean that you can here the cursor move as you move between options on the various menus. If you turn it off, these sounds won't be heard. I'm yet to work out what the final option is.
