Klein Kiesling
Klein Kiesling is a young alchemist traveling the world. He was raised by his grandmother, Daphne, who left him her alchemy notebook. He has come to Kavoc looking for alchemaic items and more information on alchemy. He is accompanied by his Wood Mana friend, Popo, when he met Lita Blanchimont, who leads him on a greater adventure than he ever thought possible.

Lita Blanchimont
Lita Blanchimont is a Galgazit and daugther of Iris Blanchimont. She lives in the city of Kavoc, where she works for Norman. She recruits the wandering alchemist Klein Kiesling, but winds up traveling with him instead.

Delsus
Delsus is an archer who resides in Kavoc and hates to discuss his past. After joining Klein's quest, it is learned that he is the son of the Duran chief and his real name is Sir Ghaleon Ashley Delsus Delvarood. Delsus constantly points out that he hates his middle name "Ashley".

Norn (Atelier Iris)
Norn was originally a wild cat that Zeldalia adopted and turned into a young girl. When Klein and his group go looking for the magician Zeldalia they run into Norn, who steals Klein's grandmother's notebook and leads the group to Zeldalia. Knowing the trouble that Klein faces against Mull, Zeldalia forces Norn to join Klein's quest.

Arlin
Arlin is a mysterious swordsman who is out for revenge against Mull, but no one seems to know much about him or his reasons behind this.
When Klein goes to Zeldalia for help, Arlin joins the party to seek out and destroy Mull. Although he stays with the party for a while, he eventually leaves to take on Mull by himself.

Marietta Lixiss
Marietta Lixiss is an ex-knight of Alkavana and the little sister of the leader of the Alkavana Knights, Beggur. While being chased by her former comrades, Marietta is aided by Klein. As a thanks, she decides to join Klein's group and hopes to show her brother the error of his ways.

Popo (Atelier Iris)
Popo is the Mana Spirit of Wood who created a pact with Klein, to help him with alchemy, after being saved by him from being bullied.
Although a minor character, Popo provides the player with humorous tutorials throughout the game.

Beggur Lixiss
Beggur is the leader of the Alkavana Knights and Marietta's older brother. Although he starts out as a villian, Beggur quickly becomes the comic relief and constantly challenges the team until Mull steps forward. His knights are loyal, even though they know he is silly, and would follow him no matter what.

Norman (Atelier Iris)
Norman is a shopkeeper who lives in the town of Kavoc. He runs the bar near the town entrance and helps Klein with his duties as a Galgazet. Norman has also raised Veola, the Magic Shop owner, since she was young girl and has become her father figure to her.

Veola
Veola is the magic Shop owner in Kavoc, but despite this, she is a reserved girl, bordering on anti-social, and doesn't like to get close to anyone. After Norman, who raised Veola, introduced Klein and his group to her she starts to open up and befriend the group, except Lita.

Hagel Boldness
Hagel runs the Weapon Shop in Kavoc and helps out Klein by creating items and discussing weapon synthesis. He is mostly known for his bald head and can be quite sensitive about it when people take notice.

Zeldalia
Zeldalia is a one of the most powerful alchemists in the land. Although she looks young, she is actually much older and suffers from a bad hip. She lives inside Poto Forest with Norn, who she found as a wild cat and transformed her into a girl.

Pamela Ibis
Pamela is a kind ghost who fails at being scary due to being perky and sweet all the time. She has no knowledge of who she was before her death and befriends some kids in town. She pops up and constantly makes advances toward Arlin.

Blair (Atelier Iris)
Blair is an apprentice baker in Arcose who was born into a rich family, but tragic circumstances led to her becoming a peasant working for the Arcose baker.
She is an incredibly gifted baker and is constantly trying to develop new types or bread and candies, despite the owners wishes. She is very nostalgic about her past and has an explosive temper, but she can also be very sweet.

Iris Blanchimont
Iris is the human incarnation of Lilith and reputed last survivor of Eden. She is extremely adept at alchemy and event developed many of the teachings that are followed by modern alchemists. She is also the creator/mother of Lita Blanchimont.

Mull
Mull is the main antagonist of the game and one of the three great alchemist, along with Daphne and Zeldalia. Due to his lust for more power, he betrayed his friends to research the ultimate being, Amalgam.
The first time Klein and Lita encounter Mull, he steals the Ruby Prism from Lita to help in summoning Amalgam. It is then that Arlin joins the group in order to seek out and destroy Mull for personal revenge, despite anyone knowing why.
