Batman Returns is a side-scroller platform video game, developed by ACME Interactive and Malibu Interactive and published by Sega for the Mega-CD/Sega CD and Mega Drive/Sega Genesis. While not identical, the Mega-CD/Sega CD and Mega Drive/Genesis versions are fairly similar with only a few differences.
The CD editions of the game feature improved music and a number of impressive 3D racing levels that took advantage of the graphics hardware provided by the Mega-CD unit. The Mega Drive/Genesis version, on the other hand, was criticized for having substandard quality graphics and an unfair difficulty level.
