Papo & Yo Overview
Papo & Yo (translated to "Father and I") is a 3D platform puzzle-adventure game developed by Minority for PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. The game follows a young boy named Quico who is transported into a fantasy world where he must deal with a Monster that represents his alcoholic and abusive father.
Designed by Vander Caballero, who created the story based on his own past in dealing with an abusive, alcoholic father, the game uses metaphorical objects and settings to mirror the problems in Quico's real life and help him work through the trauma of his relationship with his father. The game consists mostly of platforming and involves manipulating the buildings of the favela in unique ways, such as by stacking individual shacks on each other to complete puzzles and progress in the game.
