Forsaken Fortress is a a post-apocalyptic RPG/simulation hybrid based on survival through squad defense and base building, you must maintain a base and gather supplies while leading a group of characters. NPCs in Forsaken Fortress are highly dynamic in their behavior, with needs, goals and personalities that influence their daily life and decision making. Some may fall in love and some may quarrel, but all them bring life to the devastated, forsaken world.
Base Customization & Management
The base can be enhanced to include structures such as watchtowers, walls, bunkers, and more in order to hold up against attacking monsters. Inside, structures such as clinics and workbenches can be produced in order to heal characters and enhance weapons.
Most functions, such as cooking, you'll need to assign a person to cook. Obviously, the better the cook and food, the happier the moral of the base becomes.
Resource Collection & Exploration
While playing, you're able to explore the world with the squad of up to 15 characters. The environment can be used to assist you through the collection of food, water and supplies (some of which are defended by enemies).
The world can be explored on foot, but there are also vehicles in which you can travel the world solo, or with allies. So far, there is at least one ground vehicle (a humvee with a turret) and at least two air vehicles.
Note that while you explore, time still passes at the base and it may get attacked while you are exploring.
Character Development & Interaction
Each character encountered is unique and will respond differently to the choices made by you. The other characters change how they feel about you over time through actions, such as how good of friends they are.
Certain traits, such as aggression, can also be developed by the choices you make on where to send the characters under your command. These traits better prepare the characters for the environments they are typically sent into (such as combat).
Morale
The morale of each character can be continuously altered throughout gameplay. Injuries, boredom, fear, fatigue, sickness, and even weather can factor into how the characters feel. The mood of the characters change the interactions you'll have with them, so keeping the morale up through entertainment, bribes, or simply good meals is a good idea.
Character Customization
At the beginning of the game, you have the opportunity to decide the skills, attributes, appearance, sex, and name of your character. Throughout gameplay, more customization will become available, such as the equipment and party. Additional customization, including weapons, accessories, clothing, and armor are also included.
