Impire - Gameplay

Impire englobes both single-player and multiplayer (cooperative) modes where the player(s) must take command of a subterranean empire and construct buildings, create an army of monsters and start a combat against minions.

The game is set in an underworld called Ardania and you are an evil demon called Báal-Abaddon. There are lots of game progress features like earning new spells, customizing new weapons, leveling up, etc.

Interface

The interface is rather simple and features some classic strategy-style elements as well as some game-specific elements.

Menus

The menu is located in the top-left area of your screen. By clicking one of the 6 buttons you can open the panels available there: quests, settings, map, etc.

Currency

Information about the currency is displayed on the top-right of your screen. Also, below the resources available there, you can also see an experience bar which indicates your progress to the next level and your current level.

Important Data

Everything that's going on around you is displayed on your screen using circle-shaped pointing icons. Those indicate important events like battles, army status, etc. Moving the camera towards one of these will lead to its location.

Camera

You can switch between several camera modes:

  1. Overview: this will activate a 2D overview of the whole dungeon as seen from above
  2. Closeup: the normal mode to play the game where you can see all the details closely. You can zoom in or out to cover more or less of the dungeon area

    Quests

As you're playing the campaign, you will receive quests which involve objectives you must complete in order to progress through the game. These will teach you the mechanics of the game and advance you through the story.

The current objectives are displayed in the upper-left corner of your screen.

    Dungeon

Imps are your workers and your army units. They are used to defeat enemy minions, expand your dungeon, manage stuff around and complete objectives.

    Expanding

You can move around your dungeon using the imps and order them to expand through the black ground tiles.

    Battles

You can create squads (teams) of imps used to fight enemies. Go to the army management panel using the button on the top-left menu and organize your units. After you've created a squad, order them to move and attack enemies through the dungeon.

    Evolution

As you go through the game, you will advance in level, gain new items and abilities.

    Crafting

You can craft new items using the materials you find and gather through the game. There are multiple types of regents used in several recipes.

    Leveling

Completing quests and killing monsters will give you experience (as seen on the top-right progression bar on your screen). Higher levels will give you more powerful spells and unlock new in-game features.
