Seen by many as a spiritual successor to the Panzer Dragoon series, Crimson Dragon takes place on a planet inhabited by dragons. Humanity has recently colonized the planet and managed to tame the dragons to such an extent that they are able to ride them and to some extent control them.

Controls
Although originally a Kinect-controlled game, Crimson Dragon is now full layable with the traditional gamepad's dual analog control system, with optional Kinect functionality available for those who wish to utilize it.
The following controls are based on Crimson Dragon's E3 2013 build and are subject to change:
| L Stick | Move Dragon |
| R Stick | Aim / Push to Reset View |
| RB | Right Roll |
| RT | Fire |
| LB | Left Roll |
| LT | Switch Main Skill /Sub Skill |

Linear Flying
The gameplay involves players riding dragons and using the powerful weapons at their disposal to take out various enemy creatures. Although the dragon will fly on-rails, players will be able to move the dragon through rolls to avoid attacks.
Dragons & Leveling
Crimson Dragon is set to feature six different types of playable dragons, with over 100 skills spread between them.
Information about skills is currently vauge and it is unknown if skills are fixed per dragon or can be accessed by all dragons.
It will also feature an RPG-like levelling system; dragons are levelled up by feeding them food which you earn throughout the game's missions.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer functionality has also been confirmed. Players will be able to take to the skies on their dragons with up to two other people to undertake cooperative multiplayer missions.
