Might & Magic X: Legacy returns to the roots of the franchise with gameplay similar to Might & Magic I thru IV. The player will create four characters of various classes and races and travel through a first person turn-based word completing quests and leveling up.
Characters will be able to customize their characters with better equipment they find in the world or as quest rewards. Also, as each character levels they earn new skills similar to later games in the series.
Characters
When creating your character you'll get to choose from the following options:
- Race: Human, Orc, Elf, Dwarf
- Gender: Male or Female
- Class: 3 Unique Classes per Race (see below)
- Character Portrait
Classes:
The race that you choose directly effects the class you get to pick for your character. Each race comes with one MIGHT class, one MAGIC class, and one HYBRID class that is unique to that race. Some of the options include Mercenaries for Humans, Druids for the Elvish, and the Shaman for Orcs. Once you have selected a class you'll have access to that class' unique skills and abilities.
Exploration
The world of Ashan is built in the classic grid-style familiar to early fans of the series. Each turn the characters can move one square in any direction and interact with the environment (pull switches, fight monsters, talk to NPCs, etc.). This extends to both inside of dungeons, as well as outside.
Combat, specifically, will benefit from this pace as players will get to choose an action for each of their characters in turn when facing monsters. Whenever they are faced with an enemy that is on the tile next to them, the player will have to fight them. The player will have the time to choose the action that is right for each situation and character.

Using this turn-based system players will explore the Agyn Peninsula on Ashan. They will journey through cites and towns to interact with the locals, cross numerous landscapes such as deserts and swamps, and delve into the deepest dungeons seeking fame and fortune.
Puzzle Solving
Another element specific to this genre style is puzzle solving. The player might find a locked gate and have to discern how to open it. It may be as simple as finding the right lever to pushing a series of buttons in the correct order. Navigating their way through the game world, specifically in dungeons, is one of the primary challenges of this style of game (after killing monsters, of course)!
