Game of War - Fire Age Cheats and Tips - Setting Up
Alliances
Join an Alliance
Join an Alliance as soon as you can. You can share resources and gain/give help in attacking and defending lands. While you’re still in the early stages of the game, i.e., before your stronghold has been upgraded to level 6, you get the benefit of being able to teleport your entire city to be near your allies. Once you’ve reached level 6, teleportation is no longer free, so find your allies and take up your position before that point.
Nurture your Alliance
Watch the Alliance tab and make sure you give as much help as you receive to keep your alliance strong. Complete Alliance quests to gain Alliance points and gold.
Be on the lookout for Alliance Gifts
If someone in your alliance uses real money to purchase something, everyone else can receive a free gift of useful items. These expire after a day, so keep checking in.
Grabbing Resources
Resource fields
Once you have a good army, look for resource fields to occupy and harvest it. When you occupy a resource field you don’t ‘own’ it; your troops will come home once they’ve harvested all they can.
Resource Chests
An additional way of gaining resources is by opening up chests and playing the game’s lottery. These resources stay in your inventory, rather than moving over to your resource pile, which means it doesn’t run the risk of being stolen by enemies.
Grow your own
You will need to make sure your resource-producing buildings are levelled up to increase your output of all resources. There are various strategies on how you allocate resource-producing buildings to your available 24 resource spaces. There's farms for food, iron mines for ore, quarries for stone, logging camps for wood and villas for silver – most players find that allocating the majority of them to farming is more efficient, especially as your troops will be eating into the output by the hour. But whichever strategy you adopt, resources can still be gained through attacking and completing missions.
Go and raid some abandoned Kingdoms
Abandoned kingdoms are a pretty good bet for finding and pillaging resources
Planning your City
Make use of the initial Peace Shield at the beginning of the game
It gives you a chance to construct some essential buildings before the chance of being attacked.
Get those barracks and hospitals built first
Although the game tells you to build one barracks to start with, build three or four straight away, to increase the production of soldiers. Also, make sure you have sufficient hospitals to cope with injured soldiers. The more soldiers you have, the more hospitals you will need. Losing half your troops because you didn’t have enough hospital space is not good. In fact, build and level up as much hospital space as it takes to hold 100% of your troops. You’ll need it.
Cheat – Rack up your power to over 50k within your first hour
Build 10 of each building type Level 1, and then destroy them. This completes the ‘Build 10’ quest and gives you a good boost in your power levels. It can make you a more attractive player for others to want to form alliances with, initially.
However, this strategy costs the time that could have been spent building your city and training your troops while you’re behind the Peace Shield.
Choose the right mix of Quests
Going for high level Quests is great, but it’s worth picking Quests that reward with resources if you’re running short.
Defence Strategies - When things aren't going well
Protecting your Troops
Hide your troops in an empty area
A good, but sometimes risky tactic is to send your troops to an area that nobody is likely to attack – like empty fields that have no resources. Be aware that in the event that they do, they’ll have no hospitals, so could be wiped out.
Hide behind someone else’s Peace Shield
If it looks like you’re losing, send your troops to an ally who has an active Peace Shield - you can store your army at their Embassy. It’s better to have your city flattened but still have healthy troops to rebuild it, than to have no troops at all.
Send your troops to help a lower level ally out.
Fighting their war might be easier than fighting your own, and your troops will have a better chance of survival. Plus, it’ll gain more Alliance points.
Defensive Buildings
The Gymnos
Keep the Gymnos upgraded. If your hero is captured and executed, it will transfer a percentage of skill from your old hero to your new hero – depending on how high the Gymnos level is.
The Embassy
The Embassy is a good defensive building. Allies can store their troops there, and help you out during an attack. You can also offer them protection in your city by activating your Peace Shield. The Embassy is just as important to level up as all of the other buildings.
The Warehouse
Level up your Warehouse as high as possible – if a potential attacker thinks it’s beyond their strength, they’ll think again about attacking you.
