Age of Decadence is an indie-inspired fantasy third-person role-playing game where you create a character and complete quests, evolve and destroy enemy creatures.
Story
The game features about 100 quests which take you to 22 different locations like towns, archeological digs, sealed places of Power, temples, outposts and underground facilities. The story is not linear and its end can be reached in seven ways determined by your play style and decisions. Several story themes like post-apocalyptic scenarios (devastated areas, abandoned facilities, ...) will offer you a varied experience. You can read a short synopsis of the story here.

Character
There are seven gameplay styles which determine your character. This includes playing as a knight to serve a Noble House or as a Grifter, preying on greed and gullibility. Your hero (or villain) can learn a total of 23 skills (abilities which enhance his powers) within varied categories like Daggers, Disguise or Crafting.

You can play the game as one of the following character types: Assassin, Mercenary, Knight, Loremaster, Thief, Merchant, Grifter.
Productivity
Crafting
As in most decent RPGs, there is a Crafting system which allows you to create your own equipment parts. In Age of Decadence, you can melt items to create new ones, improve your weapons, etc.
Alchemy
Though we're still talking about weapons and equipment, a great feature which gets into the Alchemy category is that you can add poison to your weapons to make them even deadlier.
Items
Items are the equipment parts or consumables your character uses to survive across the game's dangers. There are hundreds of items which include weapons, armor, scrolls, tools, flasks and relics. Note that you can carry only a limited weight of items. Once you reach the limit, you must visit a vendor to sell some of them and get some space.
Factions
Factions are alliances with a long history and tradition. During the game, you will interact with these factions, complete quests for them and maybe fight against:
- Noble House Daratan
- Noble House Aurelian
- Noble House Crassus
- Imperial Guards
- The Forty Thieves
- Commercium
- Boatmen of Styx
