Tips and Strategies
Renewing Energy
Every time that you play a round you will lose 10 energy. To get back this energy you can either wait for it to return on its own, buy more or by sneakily setting the time forward on your phone or tablet. Unfortunately, this does not work those who play the game on Facebook.
Find Friends
If you don’t fancy messing around with the settings on your device you can connect the game to Facebook and ask anybody that plays the game for some free energy. If you don’t know anybody that plays the game, you can always add people who do play it. An easy way to find people is on the App store comments, or on a Facebook fan page.
Level Objectives
It is very easy to just get a high score without paying attention to the level objectives. Make sure you are completing the basics.
Add Words to Existing Letters
Can you add an ‘s’ to a word to make a plural? Can you add ‘ing’ or ‘es’? This can often be the difference between success and failure, so when you see a word, check for the plurals nearby.
Know Your Stuff
Every little bit of knowledge helps and that is why you should learn which icon indicates what sort of level you are heading into. In doing so, you will know which pre-level boosts you should apply to counter your own weaknesses, especially in the trickier levels in the game.
Eight Letter Words
If you make an eight letter word then your entire board will be filled with double and triple score tiles causing you to blow up massive chunks of the board. Playing the game this way will make it almost impossible to lose the round that you are playing.
Line Clearing Tiles
Line clearing tiles will make a level a whole lot easier to complete, but to generate the tile you need to create a six letter word. When you use the tile it will detonate in the direction indicated and destroy every letter in its way. This is one of the best ways to get through the trickier levels and get a high score.
Quills
You need to make quills drop to the bottom of the screen in order to rescue them. This is where the line clearing tile mentioned above becomes important, so take advantage of every opportunity to create a six-letter words.
Bonus Tiles
Each one of the bonus tiles will explode into bonus points if you complete your objectives, so don’t need to worry about ignoring them in to meet your objectives. That being said, it's rarely worth wasting your high-scoring letter bonus tiles tiles on three letter words. Every time the board changes take a look at your bonus tiles and see if an easy five letter score has come into play.
The only except to this is when you have a limited number of moves to clear the tiles. When this happens you'll want to make use of the bonus tiles to explode adjacent sections of the board.
Boosts
If progress is a struggle you can always make use of the boosts that are available in the game. These will make the level easier for you to complete by giving you a handful of extra turns to complete an objective or removing an annoying letter, like a Z or Q.
Just be careful, as boost are limited and you should save them if possible.
