Tips and Strategies
Optional Objectives
Try to achieve as many objectives as possible for each level. They are a great way to gain ice cubes if there's an item in the store you want. However, the later objectives of each level can only be unlocked by beating the objective(s) before them. If you're absolutely stumped on an objective, but want to play the objectives after it, you can simplify the objective but it will cost ice cubes.
Unlock the Original Icycle
Players can unlock the original Icycle flash game by completing at least 80 challenges throughout the levels. The entire flash game is playable within Icycle: On Thin Ice.
Unlock Dream Levels
The game has a few dream levels which are even more bizarre and surreal than the normal levels. The game will specify certain clothing items that need to be purchased in order to unlock these levels. Those items must be bought and worn to play the dream levels, so buy those before buying less important cosmetic items.
Collecting Ice
In order to maximize the amount of ice you acquire without having to restart the levels from the beginning, move slowly and carefully whenever possible. If you miss quite a few of them, don't be afraid to use the Force Restart button in order to kill Dennis and have a second chance at getting them. Memorizing a screen and then restarting the screen to get the ice is often a good strategy.
Explosive Crystals
Certain levels contain exploding crystal hazards. Surviving through these sections will often require trial and error. Try to memorize how long it takes for each crystal to detonate, and make sure you pass the platform before that happens.
The Snowball Level
The first level, which contains a giant snowball, can be one of the hardest for new players. Just stay calm in this level. Go through the passage the snowball creates and let it follow you. If you keep going forward whenever possible, the snowball won't actually reach you.
M100 Kitchen Vac
This item is notable for its bright red color. Make sure to get this item whenever possible, as it will suck in all of the ice cubes around you, thereby making it much easier to collect particularly difficult ice and fully complete the level.
Umbrella
The Umbrella is one of the most useful new items in the game. This will slow down jumps, which makes air sections much easier to navigate and will often save you from falling to your death. Use it as much as possible.
