Marvel Run Jump Smash! is a 2D endless running action game developed by Marvel Entertainment for iOS and Android. The game features an assortment of Marvel comic characters, many of whom come from Marvel's The Avengers, and tasks players with running, fighting and surviving through all of the levels.
Basic Gameplay
The gameplay uses the touchscreen to navigate and perform actions. Clicking the arrow in the bottom left will make the player jump, while clicking again while in the air performs a double jump. Clicking the fist in the bottom right will make the character attack.
The top left corner shows a special attack bar. This bar is refilled by collecting Special Attack Rechargers throughout the levels. Once the bar is full, the player can perform an extremely powerful special attack unique to each character.
Characters
Initially, the player can only choose between S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Collecting a Super Hero Token will allow the player to temporarily switch to a new superhero,which typically has much stronger, unique abilities.
Enemies and Hazards
As players navigate the levels they will encounter many enemies and obstacles that wish to kill the hero.
Basic enemies can be defeated with a basic attack. However, there are some variations of enemies, such as dashing enemies that will run to the toward the player or shielded enemies that cannot be attacked from the front, and therefore must be taken down from above. Some enemies are larger, and will require multiple attacks to defeat.
In addition to fighting, players must navigate stage hazards such as pits and flames. Coming into contact with any of the enemies or hazards as a hero will make them switch back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Running into a hazard as an agent will end the level, causing players to start over.
Collecting Coins
While running, the player will collect tokens. Collecting more tokens along the way will increase the player's score for the level and will allow them to purchase things, such as new characters. Collecting all of the coins in one row will grant coin combos, which will increase the score multiplier.
Upgrading
After each level, the game displays stats regarding things such as how many gems and gold the player collected. Gems are much harder to get, so purchasing things with gems costs much less than purchasing them with gold.
Gold or gems can be spent on enhancements, upgrades or new characters. Enhancements are divided into core stats and bonus items. Core stats will increase the basic abilities of the player, such as strength, whereas bonus items grant special abilities, such as recovering from one hit.
Characters can be purchased with gold or gems, but they require excessive amounts in order to be able to afford them. They can also be bought with real money. Each hero has low upgrades, which are bought with gold, and high upgrades, which are bought with gems. These upgrades will grant the heroes more unique special powers.
