High Score
It is important to always keep in mind that in Threes! you are trying to build the best score possible. Keep an eye on your higher-numbered tiles, as these are the ones that make a difference. The first few times you play you will notice that there are a few threes on the board along with some ones and twos. Focus on putting the threes together first into sixes and then work your way up. As you do this the board will start filling up with tiles so try to keep some open spots around your higher-numbered tiles. By doing this it will give you the chance to put them together and create some big numbers, all the way up the 192 piece.
Whole Board Movement
With this game you are not moving one individual piece at a time you are moving all the tiles on the table. This can make the game difficult, especially when it comes to aligning similar numbers together. A good way to get around this is to master open gaps as you move pieces along. For instance, if you have got four pieces on the bottom and three on the top, only the three on top will move, giving you a chance to line things up.
Know Which Tile is Next
Before you make your next move on the board, take the time to see what tile you have lined up next to drop. Sometimes it can be a very crucial piece, like an additional 3, but other times you may get a colored piece that is useless without a 1 or 2 piece nearby. These drop at random, but they usually fill in the next readily available open space. Try to position a 1 or 2 piece if an opposite colored one is about to drop. It will pay off when you are adding up pieces and freeing up space on the board.
Multiply
It is important to multiply whenever you can as it is brilliant for freeing more space on the board. If you see threes or sixes sitting together go ahead and slide the board over so they combine, as that will free up a lot of space. However, be careful not to move the entire board over three spots to make them add up, because that will just result in more tiles dropping on the board.
Practice
Threes! is not a time based game. You aren’t going to lose points for taking your time between moves. Instead you will be rewarded for going slowly with a match and deciding what your next move is between tiles along the board. It may be frustrating at first but keep at it you will be rewarded with high scores as a result giving you a chance to move up in the leader boards.
