Tips and Strategies
Can't touch this
Get a Petit monster party with a variety of offensive inherited skills, and you're most likely going to be untouchable. Not only does the party effect increase your speed, your opponent will also be having a rough time trying to hit you!
Feed 'em all!
When you're having trouble tuning a monster, tame it as much as you can with meat. As to which kind of meat, Sympho meat is preferable, especially for large monsters, but Diato meat is also effective. However, you may have to feed the monsters more than you'd normally feed them with Sympho.
Keep giving them meat until you see three red notes on top of them - meaning it's time to tune. It usually takes 1-2 turns of tuning to capture monsters, but it can take longer depending on the rarity or size of the monsters. Remember that larger monsters will always be harder to tune than regular-sized ones, so you would expect that they would have a greater appetite.
Ending boss fights faster
Instead of defeating bosses, capture them! It may be a lot easier to finish the battle by simply capturing the monsters. Do note that you can't capture some bosses, like the four generals of Shafong.
The right skills
An Ezogappa can potentially defeat a tougher and larger monster than itself, such as a Frog Guard. This is because a kappa can learn a unique skill called "Frog Killer," which deals massive damage to frog-type monsters. An Air Mk-I can learn a skill called "Armorbreak," which can lower the opponent's defense stat, allowing you to deal more damage.
These skills can be very useful and can potentially turn the tide of the battle, depending on the situation. By combining, you can also choose to inherit these skills onto the resulting monster, therefore giving it more of an edge in battles.
As usual, grind.
In order for your monsters to get stronger, grind XP and you'll find your monsters' level maxed out in no time. When they reach their level cap and you can't do anything with them anymore, combine them with other monsters so you can either get a new monster with an increased level cap, or if you would like to keep your original monster, you can use a Book of Immovability to retain its form and just increase its level cap.
There are locations in which grinding can be easily done, since they all have orange tone crystals which can recover your party's HP if you ever need it, or change the current party to raise other monsters' levels. Please note that some areas need to be unlocked by progressing further into the game. Here is a list:
| Cerasus Volcano in Ignis (You have to at least be at Story No. 26 "Seeking the Finale to access this place.) | Forest of Nyx in Lyoto (You have to at least be at Story No. 17 "To Lyoto" to access this place.) |

Ignore enemy defenses!
The monster Raiden learns a B-skill called "Percent-age" which takes away 30% of its opponent's HP. This skill is very useful for fighting bosses or large monsters with very high base HP stats.
White Pancho
In the game it says that mixing a Pancho and a Lunegappa results into a White Pancho, but in reality what you get is a Sludge Gel. The real recipe is to combine Sancho and Lunegappa.
Teamwork is important.
There are party combinations that trigger a set effect. An example would be a Petit party, which increases the team's speed, or a Robot party, which improves the team's thunder resistance. Use these buffs to your advantage, and you'll be walking on sunshine.
Genius monsters
In Shafong, there is a monster tamer that you can fight behind the building where you mix monsters. If you beat her she will give you a Score of Moon as a reward, which is basically a Melody of Galaxy, which when used upon mixing monsters, gives them the Genius personality. This can be repeated countless times, so you can make all of your monsters geniuses!
Complete the side quests
There are side quests that you can complete to get useful rewards like combination recipes and money. For example, completing the side quest in Torba will get you the combination recipe for Petit monsters. Check all the NPCs in all the cities and you'll find people asking you to do favours for them.
Blocked path in Primo Woods?
Before you finish the story in Lyoto, head back to the checkpoint in Torba. Talk to the NPC in the inn, and make sure you bring an Ironpancho. Go back to Primo Woods and you'll find the blocked path removed; entering it will lead you to a room with a chest containing Grand Meat.
