Tips and Strategies
Upgrades
One way to help secure a victory is to ensure all your stats reach the appropriate level for the right area. However, there are some upgrades that you need to consider investing on first before all else.
Here is a list of the upgrades in order from highest to lowest priority:
- Upgrade your MSP (in-game currency) Gain level. As the name suggests, this increases the amount of money you gain from wins, which you can then use to purchase additional upgrades. This will also help reduce the time needed for grinding, as you won't spend a lot of time into collecting MSPs as you level this stat.
- Upgrade your Development Speed level. As you invest in this stat more, you will gain AP more quickly, therefore allowing you to send out units faster, which can definitely give you an edge in battle.
- Upgrade your Hangar level. This raises the overall AP capacity, which is important for sending more units onto the battlefield. This helps, considering that in this game, overpowering your enemy with numbers is usually a viable strategy to win.
- Upgrade your Charge Speed level. Improving this stat also improves how fast the METAL SLUG ATTACK loads. Although not as important as others, this can be quite useful especially when you're in a pinch or if you want to clear out a way for your soldiers.
- Upgrade your Destruction Bonus level. This upgrade raises the amount of AP obtained when defeating enemies. This is the least important upgrade in the list, since once you've upgraded your Development Speed and Hangar level, AP accumulation won't be much of a problem anymore. Although it is still useful as you may want to save as much AP as you need just in case you get in trouble.
Spend some time grinding.
In order to progress in this game, grinding for MSP is essential. MSP is the game's currency and this is what you will need to purchase upgrades for your stats and units, which will eventually make grinding easier and help you advance on to tougher levels. Also, it is more convenient to grind at double speed.
Faster isn't always better.
While double speed is very useful when grinding for MSPs, you may want to play at default speed more often. Difficult levels will require you to use all the possible combinations using different units from your current deck; playing at normal speed gives you more time to devise a plan and launch attacks, compared to when playing at double speed.
Make use of your captives.
POWs provide buffs that can give you an edge in battle, such as Fiolina Germi’s ability to reduce the production rate in battles, which can allow you to deploy more units faster. You can capture them in all areas (some areas have more than one POW so grinding is very important).
Exactly how do we capture POWs?
It is not yet confirmed as to what factors are involved in capturing POWs. However factors such as speed, lesser amounts of units deployed, the unuse of METAL SLUG attack and special attacks all most likely contribute. It wouldn't hurt to try them out - experiment!
Cheats
Bored of waiting for a complete energy refill?
While you can purchase additional energy using real money, you can try this trick out instead, as this game bases its time on your device's clock. Therefore, in order to skip the wait, skip three hours ahead of time (normally it takes three hours to get a complete energy refill) in your device's settings and go back to the game. You'll find that the game will have skipped the wait and give you your refill. Now you can keep grinding!
