Tips and Strategies
Start off slow
I'm sure you're wanting to show off your tactical football skills to everyone online, but a great way to make your team stronger is to start off playing Single Player Seasons against CPU opponents. Earn high enough points on these seasons and you will soon move up levels. This will earn you more in-game currency, which you can use to buy consumables and other items to improve your team. You'll avoid the risk of getting beaten on your first time too, so play it safe for now.
Study Chemistry!
Most people tend to select their best players on the team; however, if the players you have selected don't have the right Chemistry, you may find yourself on the losing side in a match.
It is important for the players in your team to have high chemistry. A team with a total rating of 99 might seem to be the best combination, but if they have low chemistry, a team of a lower rating that has better chemistry will most likely win against it. Also, make sure that the players and your set formation complement each other in order to play your team to its fullest extent.
These are some of the factors you can consider that can help increase Chemistry:
- Natural player position (e.g. Dortmond's Gundogan as CM)
- Matching origin
- Matching league
- Matching nation
- Relationship with managers
Prepare for battle!
In every game, preparation is key. Before you go off to play against someone, make sure you have the right items and player cards to ensure success. Items such as staff items can greatly improve your chances of winning, especially when you need that little 'push' to get out of a pinch. Also, it is important that when playing against someone, make sure that your kit (jerseys) colours are different from the opposing team, as you might not want to get confused in the actual match.
Never give up - really
Never quit a match - forfeiting will reduce your DNF percentage, thus reducing the rewards you receive for every game.
Offline Play
Playing the game in offline mode will allow you to test whether your formation is effective or not before you go off to compete with others online. Also, this is a good way to earn and save up coins. As well as this, sometimes the rewards for tournaments can be good, as you can receive gold and silver cards.
Keep it balanced
If you're not familiar with advanced formations, you may want to try out the most balanced formation that you can use on most games. The 4-1-2-1-2 is laid out neatly and this gives your team an opportunity for balanced, adaptive play. In the diagram below you can see that their formation forms a triangle for each section, which not only makes for good cover, but for good passing as well.
While using this formation, you may want to adjust your play style to different kinds of plays; you could keep it slow, keep the ball in possession, or do short and quick passes - it all depends on how the game plays out. This formation is adaptive so it can be used for different strategies.
You can try out different kinds of formations if you feel comfortable with the game, such as the 4-2-2-2, which gives you a lot of options for offensive play, while managing your 6-man defense. But if you still need experience, then stick with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation and learn different play styles best suited to you.
Massive Bidding
This is a way to earn coins as fast as 12,000 an hour. Here are step-by-step instructions:
- Choose a popular player, one listed the most.
- Check that player's current Buy Now/bid price by adding some more in your Transfer List.
- Calculate your maximum bid price for that player and add a profit of at least not more than 400 coins.
- Mass bid on the player of your choice as much as possible up till an hour passes.
- Then list all the players you've won in the Transfer Market for their current Buy Now price.
(Note: Remember to take into account the 5% EA tax on all your sales. Also the profit margin may be small, but do this routinely and you will be able to gain a lot of coins.)
Do remember that when you are selling players whilst sleeping or when away from the game, you might want to list your players for 6/12 hour transfer durations. Also, take advantage of underpriced "Buy Now" value cards when you see them in the market - buy them immediately and then relist them in the current transfer market value to help you sell your cards at a higher price.
