Danny Elfman - Overview

Danny Elfman is one of Hollywood's hottest composers and once he was but a member of a strange, yet cult-like followed, 80's band, Oingo Boingo. Catching the ears of Tim Burton and Sam Raimi, he has composed scores for most of their films.

For Tim: Corpse Bride, Mars Attacks, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Planet of the Apes, Sleepy Hollow, Batman, Beetlejuice, and Pee-wee's Big Adventure.

For Sam: Spiderman 1, 2, and 3, and Army of Darkness.

His other movie scores include: Good Will Hunting, Men In Black 1 and 2, Hellboy 2, and Wanted to name a few. You find him listed here because of someone's mad genius (probably Peter Molyneux himself) deciding to use Elfman to compose the theme for the 2004 hit Fable. Just a theme, a small melody that Russell Shaw would run with and compose one of the greatest game scores of all time, weaving in Elfman's theme when appropriate. Allan Wilson was the man who took up the baton and conducted the London Philharmonia Orchestra to record Elfman's and Shaw's work. Having started with Disney, assisting with the animating of "Fox and the Hound" and going on to work on many other Disney projects, it was no big surprise when Elfman was asked to write a song for the Disney Square Enix collaboration, Kingdom Hearts 2. The song, "This is Halloween". Elfman's scores have an ethereal quality to them that lend a smattering of magic to the creations they touch.
