Walter Day is the founder of the company Twin Galaxies, an official company that records high scroes for arcade games and home consoles.
In 1980 he was an oil broker in Houston Texas when his friend introduced him to Space Invaders. He soon became a huge fan of Centipede, Robotron, Frogger, and Pac-Man. In 1981 Day opened an arcade in his hometown of Ottumwa, Iowa.
In 1982, the first high-score attempt Walter oficially refereed was an attempt at the world record score for the Defenders arcade game.
Walter appeared on television many times in the early 1980's as an official video game high score referee; one of his well-known appearances was in the 2007 documentary The King of Kong, in which Steve Wiebe attempts to beat Billy Mitchell's world record for the arcade game Donkey Kong.
