2K Games has announced a sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, called XCOM 2. The game is being developed by Firaxis Games for the PC.
Humanity has lost the war against the alien threat and now must strike back to regain control of Earth. Thus XCOM is the invading force in XCOM 2, but only has a limited amount of resources to draw upon.
The President of 2K Games, Christoph Hartmann, said the following:
"Firaxis proved they could reimagine a beloved franchise with XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a Game of the Year award-winning title. With XCOM 2, the team is breathing new life into the series by adding an epic narrative and challenging players to overcome near impossible odds."
XCOM 2 is schedule to be released in November 2015.
