Speaking to Nintendo Life, the head of Slightly Mad Studios, Ian Bell, has confirmed the cancellation of the Wii U version of Project CARS.
"The official line is that we're awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now Project CARS is simply too much for the Wii U," said Bell.
Project CARS reportedly only ran at 23FPS on the Wii U, compared to 60 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, so Slightly Mad Studios clearly struggled to get the game to run on the Wii U hardware.
Whether this is the sole reason for the game's cancellation or just a convenient excuse will likely become clearer once Nintendo reveals its NX platform and Slightly Mad Studios decides whether or not to pursue development on it.
