Apple's newest smartphone has set a new sales record for the company.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sold 13 million units in the first three days of availability. This eclipses the previous record of 10 million, which was set by the iPhone 6 last year. The iPhone 5C and iPhone 5s sold nine million units in 2013.
"Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history," said CEO Tim Cook. "Customers’ feedback is incredible."
The smartphones will be released in 40 more countries on October 9th, and Apple plans to make it available in more than 130 countries by the end of the year.
