Microsoft will now be reporting Xbox financial results under the 'More Personal Computing' segment. This segment also includes Windows licensing, Surface tablets, phones, and search.
Microsoft has made the move to shift the focus onto platforms and services rather than single products, which is apparently how CEO Satya Nadella prefers to see the future of the company. As a result, there will now be just three large operating segments: More Personal Computing, Productivity and Business Processes, and Intelligent Cloud.
The new financial reporting system will begin with next quarter's results, which will be released on October 22nd. However, Microsoft will also detail the results under the previous structure for the benefit of investors.
