Activision Blizzard Revenue up 24% Year-Over-Year, Digital Revenue Sets Company Record

Activision Blizzard has released its earnings report for the third fiscal quarter, which ended on September 30th.

GAAP revenue jumped 24 percent year-over-year to $990 million, while digital revenue set a new company record at $629 million. That is 67 percent of all of Activision's revenue - up a massive 38 percent when compared to a year ago.

For the full fiscal year, Activision expects to earn $4.53 billion. This is up from the previous expectation of $4.43 billion.

Activision has also released some stats for its games. Non-GAAP revenue for the Call of Duty franchise saw double digit growth year-over-year due to strong sales of the back catalog.

Destiny: The Taken King also set a day one download record for PlayStation and day one saw the highest number of players in a single day in the game's history. There are now more than 25 million registered players for the game.

The number of World of Warcraft subscribers remained stable at 5.5 million. Diablo III is also still selling strongly, and sales have now topped two million units in China. Finally, more than seven million people signed up to participate in the Overwatch closed beta.
