Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge Coming to 3DS & Wii U in Japan

Mini Mario is back and he's bringing some friends with him.

Nintendo has announced Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge, a new puzzle game in the vein of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. It looks to play similar to 2015's Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, but with additional characters that can be unlocked with amiibo.

The game, which will release January 28th in Japan (there's been no announcement yet for the west), will be available by purchasing an amiibo figure either at participating stores or online retailers. A download code will be printed on the receipt, which can then be redeemed on the eShop.

This is only a temporary promotion for the 3DS and Wii U title, however; it will see a standard release later in 2016. You can check out the compatible amiibo on the game's official website.
