Jason Rubin: Nintendo is "Irrelevant as a Hardware Manufacturer"

During the newest episode of Bonus Round on Gametrailers, the topic of the Wii U's place in the console market came up. Former THQ president and co-founder of Naughty Dog Jason Rubin had some pointed words for the Kyoto-based gaming giant.

"Nintendo's irrelevant as a hardware manufacturer in the console business," Rubin stated, citing the company's recent financial data and slow Wii U sales (3.61 million as of June 30th).

He did, however, praise the company for its games and development. "There is no developer, as a developer, I can say there is no developer that will ever be Miyamoto. It is a crime that we do not play those games on the systems that we have - as a community."

Seamus Black, co-founder of the original Xbox, followed Rubin's statements by saying: "It's tragic that Nintendo hasn't assumed their position in the constellation of entertainment giants, because they're every bit a Disney. It's strange...strange."
