This is purely speculation, but with what I saw I might have an idea about where this game is on the official Timeline, if it is a part of it at all. It most likely will however.
Now, there are multiple reasons I think that it belongs in this specific spot, and I have cause to prove it. But since we have very little info about this game, this is 100% guess work.
I believe that this game will be the last game as of right now in the Child timeline.
Reasons:
1) Now, with the more artistic art style the game is boasting right now, it may not truly belong in the timeline in terms of style, the other games having very dark themes. But with the game Four Swords Adventure using the same art style as Wind Waker and The Minish Cap, there can be another game that doesn't carry the same weight. And with Wind Waker, for such a friendly game there can be many very dark moments in it. Not really a reason, but a defense.
2) With the release of Wind Waker HD and Link Between Worlds, the two other main timelines in the franchise have been represented with a fresh face. Or a face lift on Wind Waker HD at least. The timeline that has gotten very little love so far has been the Child timeline, with Twilight Princess being released in late 2006 and with Four Swords Adventure in 2004. So it has had very little attention.
3) The large monster that attacks the very feminine Link looks more advanced and ancient than anything else in the world, apart from Link's arrow. It looks as though it came from the Twili realm, if the realm became more sophisticated. that may just be me.
4) Link himself looks slightly reminiscent of how Link looked at the beginning of Twilight Princess, having more of a basic attire. The new Link is dressed in blue this time, but the resemblance is there. And the design of the trim of his clothes look similar as well.
5) The land of Hyrule is so vast now with the new game, and it makes me think of why apart from the Wii U being more powerful than any of the other consoles. My theory on this, is that with the Twili and Ganondorf being taken care of by the link of Twilight Princess, the Hylians realized that they should expand and grow, reaching out to colonize the whole continent. With the Adult timeline leading to all of Hyrule being covered with flood waters causing Link and Tetra of Wind Waker to set out and find a new continent to call home, ruling out that timeline. And with the Hero Defeated timeline both recently having a game added, and putting a lot of emphasis on the classic 2D approach that the classic games had, and they were more about preventing the resurrection of Ganon. If this new foe is similar to the Twili, then there is no need for Ganon.
6) The Twili like monster can be to the Twili as the Dark World is to Lorule. That makes sense giving Nintendo's habit of reusing enemies by changing them slightly.
This is all speculation on my part, and I do not have any real proof of any of this. Perhaps this is all true, or maybe none of it. Just let it rattle around in your minds. If you have any comments or arguments to my points, please sound off in the comments.
