This year's E3 was something magical. Sony showcased some of my favorite games and most anticipated ones, Microsoft showed some software that I may get, and Nintendo simply blew me away. I'm not starting anything here, as all 3 companies had great games, but I believe Nintendo caught my attention the most.
With the final announcements for Hyrule Warriors, our first look at the absolutely beautiful Zelda Wii U, Miyamoto's new games, and Smash Bros, Nintendo stole the entire show.
The digital event was something I really wouldn't have expected from Ninty as they used Robot Chicken style animation to show off the games. The 45 minute long video was worth the watch (as always) as we open up with some Smash Bros info (Mii Characters, and some new modes), then go onto the new Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, Zelda Wii U, etc.
However, the very end of the video (even after the credits) is what really got me excited and made me get giddy with joy. Our good friend Shigeru Miyamoto, was seen playing a game on a blurred out T.V screen and a blurred out Wii U gamepad. It was incredibly obvious as to what he was playing. Star Fox Wii U.
Yes, in case you missed all of E3, Star Fox Wii U has begun development. A tech demo was showcased on the show floor to give everyone a taste of what the new game will have in terms of gameplay and mechanics. The demo had an All-Range mode arena that showed how the gamepad is used. The T.V is a thriperson view of the Arwing and the Gamepad is a first person view. You use the left thumb stick to move the Arwing, and aim the reticle using the gamepad. If you have a hard time imagining this, try thinking of the space segments in Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (if you played it). You moved the ship separately from the aiming reticle.
A new vehicle was also showcased, a Hovercraft that worked like a helicopter. You had to drop down a small robot to collect certain items. Once the robot is down you moved him from the gamepad. On the T.V is a thirperson view of the craft, and the gamepad has a firstperson looking down at the floor.
It was also showed that you can turn into the Landmaster again. Similar to how Star Fox 2 did it, the Arwing can transform into the tank whenever needed (in the All-Range mode). The demo itself looked nothing like a good game as it used the character models from Star Fox 64 3D. Of course this is so because it's only a tech demo.
Miyamoto also stated that the game has gone into full development and should be released in 2015, which is a huge ordeal for a game that Miyamoto says will be big with content.
He also said he is looking to pass it off to a worthy developer, as his own team won't be able to finish the game in the one year span. Many fans have been crying for Platinum to be trusted with the game, as Hideki Kamiya has, on multiple occasions, expressed his interest on working on with the game.
I, for one, am extremely excited that we are getting another Star Fox and could care less on who is developing it (so long as Q-Games stays FAR away). What do you all think? Are you excited?
