I'm stuck! The torn pic puzzle...I can't figure out how to turn the pieces! Maybe because I'm old

I had trouble with this, but I finally was able to complete the puzzle. I had to hit each piece with just the right combination of the left mouse button and then the right mouse button before it would rotate. Each rotation took several tries.
