2014 was packed full of brilliant indie games; games that chose their own direction in realm of graphics and gameplay, and which provided some of the most unique gaming experiences of the year. With a wealth of potential titles to choose from, it was hard to create a shortlist, let alone pick a winner, but eventually we managed it and here are the results:
The Nominees Are:
OlliOlli
TowerFall Ascension
Shovel Knight
This War of Mine
Transistor
And the Winner is...
TowerFall Ascension
Whilst all of the games we nominated are deserving of recognition for what they managed to achieve, TowerFall Ascension will stand tall as one of the best local multiplayer games of the generation thanks to its frantic gameplay. The tight controls and great mechanics set it apart as a classic in the making, and for these reasons it's our Best Indie Game of 2014.
