Big Daddies are enemies in Bioshock and Bioshock 2.
Big Daddies are genetically enhanced humans that have been transformed into very large diving suits. They were originally named Protectors, as their main purpose is to protect Little Sisters as they harvest ADAM. The lights on their helmets can be used to determine their nature, as green means they're friendly, yellow means they are aware of their surroundings, and red means they are hostile.
There are many types of Big Daddies encountered throughout both games.
- Bouncers - These are present in both games, and are equipped with a drill on their right arm, which is used for melee attacks. They wear heavy diving suits, with their helmets containing 8 lit portholes.
- Rosies - These Big Daddies wear a basic diving suit, and are also maintenance workers for the city of Rapture. They use a Rivet Gun for their main weapon, and can also use Proximity Mines.
- Rumbler - A new type of Big Daddy created by Sofia Lamb in Bioshock 2. They are less lightly armored than previous ones, and can deploy Miniature Turrets and RPGs as weaponry.
- Alpha Series - These Big Daddies are different than the rest, in that, they seem to be bonded to a single Little Sister. Subject Delta, the main character of Bioshock 2, is one of these. They are capable of using Plasmids, as well as various weaponry. When encountered in the game, they will always be hostile.
- Lancer - These Big Daddies are featured in the Minerva's Den DLC for Bioshock 2. Their main weapon is an Ion Laser, and they are much slimmer than other versions.
