BioShock is a survival horror first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Boston (now known as Irrational Games) and designed by Ken Levine. A sequel, BioShock 2, was developed by 2K Marin and released in 2010 and a third title in the series, BioShock Infinite, released in 2013.
The first two games in the series focus on the events that take place in an underwater city called Rapture, created by the entrepreneur and objectivist Andrew Ryan. The games take place after civil war and addiction to a substance called ADAM has ravaged the city and left many of its inhabitants either dead or insane, and follows the stories of a number of the city's most famous inhabitants.
