Doctor Fuyuhiko Date (better known as the Doctor) is the main antagonist of the video game Cave Story and Cave Story 3D. Before the events of the game, the Doctor went on an expedition to find the fabled Demon Crown, a mysterious artifact that supposedly grants the owner incredible power.
Eventually finding the crown, the Doctor gained its power and began abducting the inhabitants of the Mimiga Village with the intent to turn them into war machines. This brought him to the attention of Quote and Curly Brace.
