Samael was once a demon of immense power that rivaled even that of the Dark Prince in Darksiders and Darksiders II. Exiled to Earth and imprisoned in the Scalding Gallows, he seeks to regain his power and break free of his chains. He aids both War and Death in their journey's, but only for his own agenda.
Formerly a Prince of Demons, Samael rejected the Destroyer's rule in Hell and was sentenced to eternal imprisonment. On War journey's to the Destroyer's tower, Samael gives his assistance in exchange for the Hearts of the Chosen. According to Lilith, no demon lord in any infernal realm could match the power of Samael.
