There are many different species of Koopa Troopas to be found in the Mario games. This page will identify all of the different kinds of Koopas, with the name of the Koopas, a short dscription of them, and the first game in which they appeared.

| Beach Koopa | They are Koopa Troopas that lost their shell and usually have on undershirts or boxers. | Super Mario World |
| Bombshell Koopa | They have black shells and when Mario jumps on them, their shells are left behind and explode. | Super Mario Land |
| Boomerang Bro. | They are Koopa Troopas that specialize in throwing boomerangs at Mario. | Super Mario Bros. 3 |
| Climbing Koopa | They are normal Koopa Troopas that climb fences. They can be killed by fireballs or by punching the other side of the fence. | Super Mario World |
| Dark Koopa | Purple-shelled Koopas that live underground. They can spin around and make Mario dizzy, as well as turn back around after being flipped. | Paper Mario |
| Dark Koopatrol | Dark versions of Koopatrol that wear spiked helmets and have spiked shells. They cannot call in reinforcements. | Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door |
| Dry Bones | Skeletal versions that are usually found in castles and towers. They collapse when jumped on, but they come together again. | Super Mario Bros. 3 |
| Fire Bro. | A variation of the Hammer Bro. that throw fireballs. They originally spit the fireballs. | Super Mario Bros. 3 |
| Gargantua Koopa Troopa | They are gigantic versions of normal Koopa Troopas. | Super Mario Bros. 3 |
| Glad Red Koopa | A Koopa Troopa that skip when they jump. | Super Princess Peach |
| Hammer Bro. | A Koopa Troopa that throw hammers at Mario. | Super Mario Bros. |
| Heavy Troopa | Giant Paratroopas that require two turns in order to attack. | Super Mario RPG |
| Ice Bro. | A variation of the Hammer Bro. that throw ice balls at Mario. | New Super Mario Bros. Wii |
| Kamikaze Koopa | Yellow Beach Koopas that climb into a shell and continually try to ram into Mario. They are invincible while in their shell. | Super Mario World |
| Koopa Paratroopa | Koopa Troopas that have wings and can fly. Stomping on them will remove their wings, which will make them behave like normal Koopas. | Super Mario Bros. |
| Koopatrol | An elite Koopa Troopa that wears a spiked helmet and has a spiked shell. | Paper Mario |

| Lakitu | They are Koopa Troopas that wear glasses and ride clouds. They are known for throwing Spiny Eggs to the ground. | Super Mario Bros. |
| Mad Green Koopa | Koopa Troopas that are always angry and charge straight at Princess Peach. | Super Princess Peach |
| Magikoopa | They wear glasses and can use magic. They can teleport, shooting magic spells that have the ability to transform objects, as well as other abilities. | Super Mario World |

| Mecha-Koopa | Small mechanical versions of Bowser that look similar to wind-up toys. | Super Mario World |

| Shellcreeper | Turtles that were the inspiration for Koopa Troopas. They cannot be jumped on at all. | Mario Bros. |

| Snooze-A-Koopa | Similar to actual sea turtles, but with an egg for a shell. Mostly found asleep, but will attack Mario if disturbed. | Super Mario Sunshine |
| Spike Koopa | Short Koopa Troopas that are spiked and guard Bowser's treasure. | Mario Party |
| Spiny | Koopas with red shells that have spikes on them. Sometimes thrown by Lakitus. | Super Mario Bros. |
| Super Koopa | Beach Koopas that wear capes, allowing them to fly. | Super Mario World |
| Terrapin | Armored Koopas that are considered weaker than even Goombas. | Super Mario RPG |
| Terra Cotta | Armored Koopas that work for Smithy and use swords in battle. | Super Mario RPG |
