Nero was Roman Emperor in real life from 54 to 68 AD. The adopted son of his great uncle Claudius, Nero succeeded to the throne after his uncle's death. Nero is infamous for being a brutal leader, even executing his own mother. He was eventually driven from the throne and committed suicide.
Nero appears as a character in the upcoming game Ryse: Son of Rome.
